“Because they gave life to their children, parents have the most serious obligation and the right to educate them. It is therefore primarily the responsibility of Christian parents to ensure the Christian education of their children in accordance with the teaching of the Church” (Can. 226 §2).
Thus, parents, with the help of the Church, have the privilege and duty to pass on the faith to their children, to help them believe that Jesus is the Son of God, to bring them to Mass and make them disciples of Christ, and, in due course, to receive the sacraments, so that, by virtue of all this, their children may have life in Christ (cf. CIC 4-5, 1601; Jn 10:10).
St. Catherine’s Christian Formation Program (“CFP”) helps parents fulfill their God-given duty to educate their children in the Catholic Faith, and to help assure that they receive the Sacraments in a timely and well-prepared manner.
The CFP is for Catholic children who have been baptized and who are in the First Grade through the Eighth Grade of public school. Parents should register their children early in the summer of each year, for the following school year.
Classes for registered children going in level 1, 2, or 3 will have class on Mondays from 6:30 – 7:45pm. Registered children going in level 4 and up will have class on Wednesdays from 6:30 – 7:45 pm. See the (updating form) for more information, and the (updating form) for the dates of this year’s classes. (updating form)
